Stating The Stupidly Obvious

A Point Well Taken

Bison-goring incident reminds: Be wary in the wild

Thirty year old Jeff Bunch of Dallas has some advice for Texas flatlanders who might be traveling in national parks this summer. Watch out for the bison. According to the Aberdeen News in South Dakota, Buncg suffered a deep puncture wound to the left buttock July 6 and underwent surgery to remove an inch long splinter of bison horn. Bunch was touring Custer State park with his mopther and brothers, when the attack occurred. Jeff Bunch told the newspaper he was srtanding near the open drivers door about 20 to 25 feet from the nearest animal. "They looked so peaceful" he said. Without warning the it lowered its head, and charged, tossing Bunch into the side of the van. "I just want to get the word out to people how dangerous buffalo are" Bunch told the newspaper.

well DUH!
i bet he feeds the bears, flies a kite near high tension wires and prusues other equally bright activities....unbelievable that a 30 year old hasn't grasped the concept that large wild animals with sharp horns=danger....yeah, he is a texan, but that is no excuse...hell most texans, at least the ones in rural areas know the cows are dangerous, and would assume a larger wild version would only be more so....maybe the world will have lucked out and this moron was sterilized, if not as a result of the attack, then by the surgeon attempting to protect the world from any future offspring by this twit....i'm sure, somehow in all this, that we will all suffer some consequence of his stupidity, because those of us with sense always pay somehow for the mistakes of those without.

I have camped all over the country and am always amazed by the idiots at National Parks. But you know what? My reward lies in seeing someones camp being ripped apart by a bear at 2 in the morning because they left food out. Ha! How they scream in fear!

yeah me too, but i always worry they will beg the bear to injure them and then the poor bear pays the ultimate price for being a bear....that just ain't right

A sad truth that a fed bear is a dead bear. But if only they'd take a few with them! That'd be nice!

Hello I am Brian 21 who held the wound and stopped the bleeding I would first like to say that my brother jeff is very smart however he made a mastaek and was takking a picture What happend to Jeff is not a laughing matter it is very serious if any of you could imagen what I saw that day you would speak diffirently Inspite of the things you have said I still wish this never happens to you!

holy fucking shit, what to respond with here.....hrmmmmm....do i behave myself and be serious, or just give n to the dark side...what to do, what to do....serious first i guess...i am sorry your brother got hurt...he might well be very intelligent, i don't know him, and will believe you on this...you are right, it is a serious matter, but humor is often the only way to discuss these things and not cry myself into suicidal depression...i can, alas imagine all too well what you saw that day, as i have unfortunately seen much worse in person, and wish i had not...i am also very impressed with your ability to not lash out at others and maintain what is obviously your inherent good nature, thank you....all this aside (the dark side comes forth), what he did was a huge boneheaded mistake, and he is very very lucky to be alive...i am sorry he got hurt, but hope he has learned caution and the benefit of studying the habits of wild animals before interacting with them...my real point, in both the post and my comments, was and still is that those of us who do take the time and effort to be aware of the possible outcomes of our actions are sick and fucking tired of paying the price for those who aren't, and really hate when innocent animals pay the ultimate price for people confusing real wild animals with zoo animals, or movie animals
