all this writing of fortunes got me thinking again about how inane so many common sayings are in one way or another...some of them just make no sense, and others seem to be contradictory...wonder how they came to be...a few that really puzzle me:
Shit Eating Grin - who the fuck would be grinning while eating shit...i would think any gri would more of a grimace, though even that seems a stretch to me...so how is it that this commonly refers to an ear to ear grin of pure joy...was this coined by some sick individual, or perhaps dogs made this one up.
Right As Rain - somehow i never thought that rain was right, or for that matter wrong...it just is...maybe this was something some farmers came up with...still strikes me as odd at best though.
Common Sense - what a crock of shit...obviously sense is not at all common, or we wouldn't have warning labels on everything...it's a shame that sense is not common.
You Will Feel Some Minor Discomfort - compared to what???every time i have heard that phrase it translated to "you will be in excruciating agony"...i supposed this was coined by some masochist, who truly believed it...either that, or by someone who thought lying to you would make it hurt less.
