well i finally got started matting and framing my art...yesterday i set out for the second time with the goal of purchasing a mat cutter, mat, and some frames...driving into Dallas in what quickly became a raging downpour, i finally arrived intact, but frazzled at Hobby Lobby, where i discovered they had sold their last mat cutter just before i showed up...30 minutes of standing around while they called other stores turned one up...so off i went back into the pouring rain, and drove 30 miles to go pick it up...luckily they did actually have it, and the other supplies i wanted, so a few hundred dollars poorer i drove home through yet more rain...of course it took forever to get home, and i was forced to wait 4 hours for the rain to taper off enough to bring the stuff inside...so today i decided on 4 pieces to print, which took me hours, and then printing took another hour, but i was finally ready to try cutting some mat...it was much harder to cut mat than i had remembered it to be, but i was successful, and without even screwing it up...it isn't quite perfect, but damn close for a first attempt...so now i have one of four done, and i am quitting for the day while i am ahead...i just know if i press my luck and try to do the rest today, i will fuck it up somehow...anyway, i am feeling pleased with myself for taking that first step towards having enough pieces ready to show, assuming i find a gallery willing to show my work...not gonna worry about that for a while though...no reason to get myself all freaked out over that until i must.
Marcia Rowlette, who died in 1997, will finally be getting buried...turns out her husband, Edwin, had been keeping her body in the freezer these last six years...he had brought her home from the funeral parlor and stuck her in there in the hopes of having her resurrected someday...he thought he was cryogenically storing her...his daughter found the body in a chest freezer this september.

well the verdict came back guilty for the twin scumbags that beat a child with a tree branch for goofing off during their church's summer program...Joshua and Caleb Thompson now fac3e a sentance ranging from probation to life...the jusry is deliberating their fate, and hopefully will do the right thing and send them away for a long long time...of course their slimeball lawyer thinks that they are "ideal" candidates for probation...why...just because one is a pastor and neither has been caught doing wrong till now...fuck that...they still don't really get the fact they did wrong, very wrong beating an 11 year old boy...they still try and deny that they beat him visciously, or had hit him so many times...i suppose it is easy to trivialize, or lessen what was done when you weren't the recipient of the beating, though i guess they will be once in prison...while not a big fan of prosecutors in general, i am one now of Beth Payan for telling it straight...she called the twins cowards, and bullies, and said that the beating was a cold, calculated, violent act...about as true as it gets...i hope this jury sees that too.
well the fucking spammer assholes are at it again...i was forced to ban an ip address to stop these fuckheads from using my blog as a platform to advertise the products...this one was sneakier than the last ones, they were posting inane fortune cookie type sayings into the comment, and then using their website url as the advertisement...that ain't gonna fly here...therefore 62.213.67.122 is banned, and if i get further shit in the same vein from the russian isp it belongs to, i will just ban the whole fucking thing, as they have no abuse address...i will also be removing any further comments from krokodilgena1@yahoo.com from any ip...i really hate having to resort to this, but my blog is not free advertisement space for anyone without my express permission, and never for vultures like that.
what a fun day today has been, NOT!!!for some unknown reason our well went dry about 5 this morning...evidently the water level in the cistern had dropped too low, which caused the pump to pull air instead of water...the end result was zero water, period...a couple of hours of futzing around led us to this conclusion...a friend of ours is using our flatbed trailer, so we had no way to take the 350 gallon water tank to the city public well to fill it, and he was in the middle of something, and would not be able to bring it back for a couple of hours, which actually ended up being more like 6 hours...so off i went to see if i could borrow some water from a neighbor...they were happy to let me have some water, which we needed to flush the toilets and other necessities, only to find after lugging 100 lbs of water into the bathroom that our toilets were the type that can't flush on a full tank alone...sigh....so off my girlfriend's dad and i trundle to the public well, carting every container possible to haul water back to try and fill the cistern...it took us about an hour to fill several miscelaneous coolers, jugs, buckets etc...probably 200 gallons or so....then spent 20 minutes making a 5 minute drive at a snails pace to avoid spilling water on the trip...finally after pouring the majority of it in the cistern, which just filled it enough, we got the pump running properly and had water, though just for emergency use...about then the friend shows up, we load the tank on the truck, and go off to fill it and then empty it into the cistern...elapsed time for this, another 90 minutes...it did the trick though, and we have water again...of course then i had to go do the shopping which i had planned to do hours earlier, and am now whooped...just another day in rural paradise.

so i read that Alice Cooper got a star on the walk of fame in Hollywood...i was surprised...not surprised he got a star, but that it just happened this week...i can't believe he didn't get it years ago...the guy has been a star for 25 years or so, and is just now getting his star...kinda hard to believe it took them so long to give it to him...if he was too out there to get one before, what has changed...oh well, probably just the usual politics or something...anyway, i'm glad he finally got one, he deserves it more than most.
wasted a bunch of time today...drove into Dallas, hoping to buy a mat cutter, mat, and some frames...went to Hobby Lobby, and they had everything, but the cutter was marked down as a demo, opened it up and found that half of it was missing...$%#%$#@%$#@^%$*^...like half a mat cutter is going to do me any good...passed on the rest as i don't want the mat getting fucked up sitting around while i wait to have a cutter...went to Michaels...last time there for me...what a waste...they no longer carry real mat cutters, and they wanted 3 times as much per sheet for mat...fucking assholes...worst part was dealing with all the traffic from christmas shoppers...i hate traffic, crowds, and holiday shoppers...ugh...what an ordeal, and all for nada...now i will have to back there later this week once they get the cutter in at Hobby Lobby...oh well

file this one in the who would have thunk it drawer...it turns out that one of Dick Van Dyke's favorite hobbies is creating his own special effects in a home computer lab...he told The Associate Press "I'm a computer animator. I'm a real nerd."...he stated that he does special effects, animation and everything on computer graphics, and claims to be pretty good...he also said that it was an absolutely addictive hobby...he started tinkering with the technology about 13 years ago and now does his work on a system using 4 computers tied to a 40" screen...way to go dude...i'm totally impressed that someoen his age just picked computer animation as a hobby...i'm also jealous as hell over the fact that his system blows mine away...i guess you learn something new all the time.
it was inevitable that something like this was bound to happen...a mob of shoppers rushing to buy DVD players on sale at a Walmart in Orange City, Florida trampled the first woman in line and knocked her unconscious as they scrambled for the shelves...the woman's sister said "She got pushed down, and they walked over her like a herd of elephants"...paramedics called to the store found the woman unconscious laying on top of a DVD player, surrounded by shoppers seemingly oblivious to her.
what a sorry, sorry story this is...i never realised that a bargain, no matter how good of a bargain was worth being seriously injured over...ok, it isn't, and never will be in my book....where did these people grow up anyway...my parents tought me not to do things like that....why didn't a single one of these shoopers rend the poor woman asistance...worse yet, why when the paramedics showed up didn't they at least act aware of what happened...i guess a bargain is more important than morals in Florida these days...wonder if she got to keep the DVD player she risked life and limb for...do you suppose Walmart just gave it to her as compensation...where were the store employess during all this...though i can't imagine any sane person would have tried to stop the stampede...at least not for minimum wage...one thing for sure, is that i now have a new way i fear death....fire, drowning, and now being trampled by a herd of shoppers.
