got the first sets of photos back taken with my new camera...very happy with the results, though am still on the front side of the learning curve for it...scanned them in, and actually got some uploaded to my gallery..new stuff in the Black & White Album, the Color Album, and one in the Reflections Album...let me know what ya think...going to buy more film later on, will no doubt have more new stuff soon.
done...cleaned all the spam comments out of here at last...what a pain...at least it is done...never letting that happen again.
i heard back from the woman who was using my ast as a background on her site with out my permission...she apologized, and added a blurb crediting me for the artwork, and linking to my site...glad it was simple to deal with this time.
what a rollercoaster my life has been the last few months...visitors coming almost every week to spend time with my g/f's dad, while he is still able to enjoy them....road trip to Houston over xmas to spend it with her brother and his family...and the emotional ups and downs of the whole thing...so far things have been going much better then we could have hoped...he is still feeling good, and is not yet suffering any real side effects of the cancer...we have no idea how long this will continue, as he has already exceeded the low end of the estimate...we are making the most of it.
i have 2 new cameras...we bought a new digital in Oct to capture as much of the good times left...makes for some nice memories, and a tribute as well...i also got a new slr for xmas, so i should be taking lots of pics, as time allows...somehow, i managed to reformat my system in that period, so it is finally running decently again...most surprisingly i managed to get a few new images up in the Color Photos Album
I also created a logo for a friend's new web site, which came out well, or at least i think so...you can see several versions of it in the Logo Album ...his site is called Ate Up, and should be up soon.
alas, my hiatus has resulted in my being spam commented to death...my own stupid fault, but a big pain none the less...deleted over 2,000 comments so far, but still hav e over 9,000 to go...i guess i will be chipping away at them for a while...i will try and post here semi regularly until things change...i hope to get at least oe entry a week for now.

i am sad to say that i will not be able to keep up with blogging for an indefinate period of time...my girlfriend's dad has been looking increasingly ill over the last couple of months, and after his annual checkup (we tried to get him to see a doctor sooner, but he wouldn't) was told to check himself into the emergency room immediately by6 his physician, which he did last thursday...testing shows that he has advanced pancreatic cancer...it is very doubtful that they will be able to do more than make him comfortable as possible for as log as possible...he will be in the hospitol for another week, following minor surgery to relieve some of the associated problems the cancer is causing...once recovered he will be coming home, but we are not sure for how long, or what help he will be needing in the future...while i will miss writing here, and reading what you all have to say on your blogs, i must focus my time, attention, and efforts on our real lives...i may provide some very occasional updates on this situation, or just write to relieve my pain, i don't really know...i will be back to pick this back up once circumstances permit.

expecting that i will not be able to write anything here for a week or so starting tomorrow...this is due to my finally getting the external drive needed to copy all my exisitng contents of my hard drives...having this will finally allow me to perform a badly needed complete reinstall on my system...i will be flattening y drives and reinstalling everything from the ground up to fix several lingingering issues with my computer which have been plauging me for a long time...i am expecting that it will take at least a week to get all the applications and updates completely redone, but it may be longer or shorter...guess i wont know for sure till it is done....will keep ya posted, and will post a final heads up before starting on things.
one of the best graphics communities ever has come back to life in a fresh new incarnation...i spent two years, more or less, hanging out in this forum, and missed the hell out of it when Alan shut down his Gazal Design Forums...lucky for all us graphics, and design peeps he decided to resurrect it...all of you graphics , and design readers should go check out the new and improved clubG...after just a few days, it looks as if much of the old community are drifting back in....this was, and is the best place to go, for discussion, help, and critique of your work from your peers...you should definately go join up...hope to see ya there.
getting really focused on doing web design work, which isn't leaving much time for keeping up on adding entries here, keeping up on all your blogs, or the several other things i try and keep up with on line...i apologize for not being able to devote time to all of you, but will get back to doing so when i get a few things completed.
we have made a few more small changes to the CSY Designs site...we added Geoff's information to the About Us page, added a note to the Portfolio main page concerning page load times in the portfolio, and made a slight change to the navigation on the individual portfolio pages.
i have also added some new images to the Logos Album in the WickdArts Design Gallery....i hope to have some more things ready to add to the gallery shortly.
well the intensive web site work done by my g/f and i has actually born some visible results...we got motivated to make some long overdue updates, and additions to our web design business site, and managed to make some significant improvements...the major one being the addition of a portfolio of our design work...it has 10 individual portfolio pages, each providing a description of the work done a site, with large thumbnails linked to full size images...pages are grouped according to the type of web site...we also added some much needed content to the about us page....hope you will all check it out and let me know what ya think...coming soon, a scripts portfolio, and NetObjects Fusion styles/templates portfolio.

just about the time i start to wonder if the art thing is a mistake, and especially if i am just wasting my time not only keeping up my design gallery, but devoting time to keeping active at DeviantArt, i get the best possible reminder that it is not, and i'm not, by having some one leave a really kick ass comment like this one, left by kernos on one of my pieces in my gallery at deiantart:
i stopped by your page to thank you for adding one of my pieces of work to your favorites. however, this caught my eye and i had to comment on it.
this photo works on a lot of different levels. first, the very deep, sharp black of the trees contrasts nicely with the surroundings. the field, the sky. the tree is highlighted very well. on another level this piece is really touching because it depicits a dying tree. a part of nature, much older than the men that are tearing it down. i imagine a forest destroyed just to put up more phone lines or whatever's on the background. or anything else for that matter. kind of sad.
i like the title 'odd geometry' as well. nothing really fits together. the tree stands out against the landscape, and the bit of human development in the background just negates everything. half of the geometry is nature, the other half destruction mixed with death. it's just an odd, but unfortunately no to unfamiliar scene to see when looking out the car window.
but this really caught my eye because it reminded me so much of a place that i used to go. old, dead trees destroyed for housing or utilities. sad really.

i have made some revisions to two of my photomanipulations based on comments, and suggestions received on them...the changes were made in hope of making them better...the suggestions both came from people whos opinion i trust implicitly when it comes to art.
i have changed the background of Arborsurrealis based on a suggestion from my sister, who is a kick ass artist...she suggested going from the gradient to a solid color, either in peach or green tones...i have decided to try it using a peachish tone first...she felt it would increase the contrast, and more importantly would make it less generic looking, and add more of a surreal feel...the new version is Arborsurrealis Rev 1...i think she was right, but would like your feedback.
the other image i changed is Negatively Charged...my mom, who has excelent taste in art, had suggested that i remove the clouds sitting just above the tree line, because they were distracting, and hindered the flow of the piece...the new version is Negatively Charged Revised...i think she was right as well...i certainly like it better now, but once again would appreciate your feedback.

well, i talked another friend into doing some guest entries...he will be writing as the mood strikes him...so look for neonjesus, to be adding more diversity to the angst...i'm glad to finally be getting this forum heading in the direction i had always intended.
a very good friend of mine will be guest authoring here periodically starting around April 1st...he had written a couple of guest rants for my old visualangst site rants section, back before i started up this blog...visualangst is down being reworked, to fix an assload in internal link problems caused when i switched web host services, and to modify what was the rants section, into the the rest of the angst-du-jour domain, which is replacing it...yeah, kind of running on here...back when i started this all, i had always intended for some people to be guest contributors, writing occasional rants, now entries, to give them a platform to use, and hopefully make this a better, and more diverse site...it took a while to get that part back on track.
he will be writing under the name "thezproject" ...i hope that you all will enjoy his future contributions...i look forward to them, as he speaks his mind with frankness, and intelligence...i have always enjoyed his writing, and opinions in the past, and don't expect to have that change in the future.
i hope to be adding other guest authors in the future, assuming i can find them...while i have some prospects in mind, friends and such who i hope to talk into doing it, i am open to the idea of letting interested visitors contribute...so stay tuned for thezproject, and f couse the usual wide ranging servings of angst from me, the angstman.
made more changes and additions to my gallery...i decided to change the order that images asorted within the albums...they were sorted alphabetically by the image title, which made one sort of sense, but not some others...i have decided to resort images by the number of views ascending...this will place the newest images at the front of each album, making them easier to find, and it may also, i hope increase the number of views for images that werepreviously on the last pages of an album, and not being viewed as much as the ones on the first page...we shall see if this helps balance things,and makes the albums a bit more user friendly...your feedback would be greatly appreciated on this.
i have added a whole slew of new photos to most of the the still photography albums in cluding a new sunset photo called Scenic Boom, that i think totally rocks...the colors in this one a really amazing...the following albums have new photos:

more than half the gallery contents are now art, and photography...the total number of images is up to 427, and 239 of those are abstracts, photomanipulations, or photos...enough images for several long visits to see it all...i am getting close to 1.5 GB of total bandwidth of use on the site as well...as of yesterday i am at 1.351 GB...wooohooo
i just discovered that my cousin has got a kick ass web site...it's a postnuke community focused around autism called RichardAtkins.net...he is extremely knowledgable on this subject and his site contains great info, news, and more...it also has some political/social commentary, and some very useful security information/updates...the site also has a forum, gallery and much more...i highly recommend his site for anyone interested in, or wanting info about autism, or wanting to keep up on the latest security threat, and exploits...go check it out.
damn i'm feeling good...i got caught up on all my email backlog, the message backlog at deviantart, and even managed to get three rools of film from my trip scanned/sorted/named/etc...i have posted pics of my new niece in my personal gallery, and if anyone is interested in seeing how cute she is email me for the url...i'm not gonna post it, because the gallery is all photos of family and friends, which i keep limited access to....on the public side of things i have also added three new photos to the Color Photos album, and 15 new photos to my Black & White Photos album...got some nice winter shots while in NY..i hope you like them.
i went ahead and scanned/selected/cropped/named/resized the first batch of slides from the roll i shot just before leaving on my trip...they were from the part of the roll shot in hopes of adding to my Reflections series...i liked seven of them enough to add to the gallery, and hope you will enjoy them as well...they can be found in the Reflections Album...so please go check them out, and as always your comments are welcomed.
i shot 6 rolls of film while on the trip, 5 of which were black & whites of scenery...more r less my usual type of stuff...i will be getting them back from the lab in the next few days...i also got a roll of slide film back i shot just before leaving...as you can guess, i will be very busy of the next week or so scanning and cropping pics, and will have lots of new stuff to add to my gallery as i get them done...will post updates, as i add new stuff for those who are interested.

thank you Jane for the new, well new for me printer....she made me a very cool and serious offer in response to my totally goofy entry Spare Printer Anyone?....she had an epson 880 in great condition that she was willing to trade for a print of one of my abstracts...we worked out the details, and i now have a decent printer for doing all my various print work up to letter size...this saves me the hassle of walking into the house every time i print something, and more importantly saves wear and tear on our hp cp1700....i immediately tested it out by printing some more business cards, and one of my manipulations, and it worked beautifully.....whooop...oh joy.
of course i am still trolling for anyone willing to buy or give me that epson photo stylus 2200 i need to be able to do 13x19, and 13x44 prints of my photos and graphics, assuming anyone ever buys prints of my art in that size.
well i have added some new photos, and done more tinkering with my gallery...i have added a new album called Fall Colors in the Still Photography album...the new album contains, yes, you guessed it correctly, pictures taken during fall, and focused on all the nifty colors the trees turn around here...the album has six new photographs, and also has several old favorites moved into this album from the Color Photos album.
i have also added three new photos to the Cloudscapes album...i really love Small Moon, which was taken on one of those rare days when the moon was very visible beofre the sun had set...i was lucky to capture it framed by clouds, which were colored by the setting sun.
i hope everyone will go take a look, and will enjoy them as much as i do....comments are extremely welcome.

i have added descriptions to quite a few of the images in the abstracts and photomanipulations albums...added two new photomanipulations, done from pictures taken at the ranch last winter after it snowed...still have descriptions to write for a bit over half of the abstracts and photomanipulations, but will be working on that over the next few days...thanks to my girlfriend, i have also corrected the formatting on image titles, and descriptions, and she has added copyright statements to the status bar for all pages in the gallery.
Well it's official...this is 101 journal entries....wasn't sure i would ever hit that number...100 comments is very close too....wonder how long the next 100 will take me to hit...i suppose that depends on how manic i feel, and how much screams at me to write about.
made another miniscule change to the links column...ok two really....i added a border to the powered by block, and swapped it with the syndicated block...think it is more balanced that way....i have also started addimg more links to non blog sites my friends have up if any thought i had none, there is now prooof.....also have added two bran spankin new photomanipulations to the Photomanipulations Album in the WickdArts Design Gallery for any of you who would like to see them...one is called Hard Snow and the other The Triplets. Both started out as some black and white photos i took last winter when it snowed...it snowed just long enough to get a nice thin cover, and i got the pics snapped in the little time before it melted....let me know what you think...oh btw, a reminder for those of you who visit the gallery, please leave comments concerning my artwork in the gallery...there is a link available under the image, when you view it full size, that opens a comment submission window...commenting is enabled for all the albums, the only drawback is you can only attach comments to individual images...so if you are feeling really verbose, comment away, as many times, on as many images as you feel up to....thanks in advance....feedback is important, as it helps me improve my artistic skills.
yup, you guessed it right again, more updates to the blog, and i had to tell you...reset the order of the links column blocks, and i'm pretty happy with that part of things now...of course if every one hates it, then that may change...changed the titles on a few of them, alas it still lacks something, so i will mess about with them more i'm sure...redid the entire about me block, substituting a link to First Words to free space, so that i could add information about the site style and design...while way better, than it was, it still needs graphical links to our business sites.
i think this is one reason nitpicky people never even finish their first site, or abandon several over a period of time before giving up, esp when they do graphic or web design...we never seem to be completely done messing with our sites' styles, and features, or completely happy...always thinking, it could be better...at least we have learned to avoid the killer trap of might as well redo it from scratch, which translates to, no site, and having pissed away months of work....it is also why, for those who looked, and now wonder, why my business site consists of an index page...i want it to look really good and funtion well, and i can't make up my fucking mind how it should look, and until i can, it exists only in my head...should be breaking out of there pretty soon though.
well thanks to my girlfriend, there is a now a categories linkset , and much more importantly, the Remember Me is now working correctly, and will actually remember your info if you want it to...i apologize for that being all fucked up until now...turns out that mt can't find it's cookies if you are using subdomains unless you edit the var host for the comment listing and individual entry archive templates...learn something new every day....thanks for your patience
after some concerted searching finally found the fix to get scrollbars to color....do they look okay, or do i need to tweak the track color some more...not sure....eyes are fucked after all nighter doing graphics for matching bb2 theme...please let me know
the gallery is up once more...after 24 hours of non-stop effort my art and graphics are viewable to the public on line...the stand alone gallery, contains several albums, each devoted to a specific type of my work...best of all the abstract art and photomanipulation albums are totally up to date and contain all my completed pieces...i will be adding to the other albums daily, and hope to have them filled shortly...they are located HERE , so go check them out...my abstract pieces span from classic to psychadelic, dark, light, serious and just plain wild...photomanipulations range from subtle to surreal...you will also find graphic art for web and and traditional use...the gallery application provides simple and flexible viewing, simply clicking on an album name or image oens it, and click image thumbnails for full sized image...each image page provides a link to let visitors leave comments, and i encourage you to do so, as feedback is greatly appreciated...albums may also be viewed as a slideshow....i hope you will all stop in and spend some time
installed the site rating image, and made a few small tweaks to the site style to fix a couple of little things in it i felt were not quite right(*pats self heartily on back here*for figuring out how to add things into the side column)...hope you agree that it is an improvement...really hope the MPAA does not sue my ass off for using their rating layout, but as it is a PARODY, i think i am safe on that...anyone who perhaps knopws for sure one way or other, i would appreciate letting me know, so i can either sleep soundly, or pull it down before facing some ugly legal situation...while i will never hesitate to defiantly poke a finger into the giants eye, i would prefer to do so while standing on solid ground...only a complete fool would do so while standing in the palm of his hand, and i may be a fool, but i'm not a complete fool

added my entries from my deviantart journal (completely forgotten about it), which should complete chore of importing my old stuff...these are mostly short as wasn't approaching it as a true journal, but wanted to include them for completeness sake....the site i babbl about there is visualangst.com , which is down for repair, but back soon with any luck....wasted some time creating a rating graphic based on my comment to this Social Reject-Bloggy Rudeness entry, which margi immediately incorprorated into her blog's disclaimer...so i thought why not add it to my site as well, but being me, could not make it simple on myself, therefore the hours creating a parody of the official MPAA ratings image...i hope to have it incorporated soon, how soon depends on me deciding adjustments to the layout and cajoling my girlfriend into making the required changes to the code, as i am a complete idiot when it comes to code...good thing she loves me, because if i tried to code, even the simplest of stuff, all my sites would look like they were built by designed by a chimpanzee on drugs

ok, got the majority of my new style worked out...it is not yet complete, as it is missing the banner, a couple of modules, and i will be tweaking the layout a bit before it is complete...i hope you all like the color scheme, i know it is a bit dark, but that is intentional....while i may try some slight changes to the colors of the various text and link sets, the colors are designed to seamlessly integrate with my primary site, "Visual Angst", and it's associated apps (guestbook and forum), which i spent obscene amounts of time creating the templates for...i created the entire look and feel of "Visual Angst" as an abstract artistic concept...i personally like how the blog looks on its own, but it will, i believe look and feel much better once i get the main site back up and all elements integrated...i am sure that some of you will find the look/feel to be disturbing, unsettling, and/or depressing, too bad

my technical writing is outstanding, but writing skills that work well for service manuals, technical training and test plans don't work for creative writings...i found that for this sort of stuff, i must just let the words flow as they will, and that if i edit much or at all, it becomes stilted and mechanical....i also was wasting so much time thinking about punctuation and capitalization, that i decided to blow it off completely....i do use some commas , quotes, apostrophes, and parens, but not much else...multiple periods are end of sentance/thought/whatever
i am actually well educated, very literate, and able to properly use the language when it suits me...i love to debate, and can construct an argument with the best of them...anooyh me and you may find out just how well i can disect a statement, and critique it to death...hopew this clears up any confusion...if not maybe i will try again later
well, here i go again...having decided that sleep is highly overrated, and despite having too much on my plate, twisted logic dictates that i create a new platform to bitch and moan from, rather than fix any of my existing ones....so here it is, the new, perhaps even improved Angst-du-Jour...i'm hoping that using a blogger will streamline the process of airing whatever is crawling around in my head....welcome back to those of you who patronized the previous incarnations, and welcome to those who haven't....same old content, new format...questions???

added several more pages to my site....am finally starting to get a feeling of it pulling together....starting to feel like a site, and more important, the site i pictured
two more pages added to my site....wooohooo....starting to look like a real site finally
posted up my web site yesterday (such as it is)....more like the beginnings of a site really....gonna be working on it for quite a while i can tell...am going to try and add at least a couple of pages a day to the content untill i have more pages with content than i have blank pages....easy to say, hard to do...we shall see
I want to apologize for being lax about commenting on deviations, posting and not keeping up the journal...there is no good excuse really, no matter what else i should have given more time to these things....i am going to make an effort to be better, especially in the comments from now on...i truly appreciate receiving comments and know we all feel the same way...i am very sorry for not contributing fairly

well here we go...my best friend suggested i do this feeling that i might have something amusing to say...who knows he might be right, but then again
who am i???
well im old enough to figure out you can learn something valuable from everyone, didnt say good, just valuable...long hair, tattoos, bipolar and fairly outside the lines in most ways...i have an incredible, beautiful wonderful daughter that i love with all my heart, and miss constantly(she lives far away)...lots more on her in other entries...oh yeah, i live in dallas(not a great place to visit or live in), but strangely enough a truly great place to find friends...i suppose you would call me a geek in a lot of ways, being as i spend too much time on my computer and am pretty much a techie where it counts...i am an avid reader(as much as a book a day) and love music...pretty much like everything from classic rock to psytrance....no country, rap or opera tho...been getting into the rave scene at the urging of best friend, in fact he is the one who finally got me to LISTEN to techno(it took persistance) and found not only is there some incredible music and wildly talented musicians, but that raves tend to be more fun than traditional concerts, because people are much friendlier and considerate(and happier) than their traditionalist counterparts...news flash: Contrary to popular belief, people dont go to raves to do drugs...they go for the music, to dance and have fun...a lot of people may decide to enhance their enjoyment chemically, but lots dont...personally, i dont care as long as you arent obnoxious about it either way(millitant sobriety is just as annoying as being too fucked up)...in fact i really like most of the candy kids and e-tards...what the hell is wrong with wanting to meet people and hand out smiles and hugs...ummmmm, yeah i have been known to alter my frame of mind from time to time...real life frequently sucks and while you cant really escape it, you can dull those sharp edges a bit...i am NOT saying that you should use drugs(including alcohol), because it isnt for everyone...there are an all sorts of people who should never do any drug(including alcohol) except under medical supervision...nuff said for now(more on this some other time)
my friends...i have wonderful friends...the best friends anyone could ever hope for...we have been through hell together(more on this another time im sure)... and i know i can trust them in every way...trust is priceless, literally, you cant buy, beg, borrow or steal it(duh), only earn it...i am really lucky to have met them all(more later)
i hope that i can get the occasional laugh or smile from you, thank you...if you find that the things im saying(or my mangled grammar, punctuation and spelling) offend you or go against popular beliefs, oh well...i hope at least you think before dismissing it...keeping an open mind wont kill you, really it wont...dont believe me, well then research it yourself...information is out there if you look
