well i have been thinking of what to ask all of you for my upcoming birthday...it is May 1st, next saturday if anyone cares, and i will have actually made it to 45, assuming i don't die between now and then...unable to think of anything else, or at least so far, and at the risk of being disappointed if this doesn't work out well, here is my request:
Please visit my Design Gallery, and comment on one (or more, if you are feeling especially generous) of my pieces there...i am still in need of feedback, and providing some would be a good gift...i could especially use comments on my photography, as very few people have commented on any of it so far.
i, of course, reserve the right to be greedy and ask for something else between now and then, but i'm pretty certain i won't.
i have been getting some very nice, and helpful, and flattering comments on images in my gallery....first off, thank you very much to all of you who have taken the time to leave them...the quandry is should i respond to those comments by posting reply comments in the gallery...part of me thinks yes i should, because it is proper to let people know i appreciate their thoughts, and also respond to specific things they have said....another part of me thinks no, that would be sort of patting myself on the back too much, and that i should keep that sort of thing here in my blog, where it belongs, not there...what do you think?
compiled and commented for your reading pleasure, here it is part 2 of the ongoing series of search strings used...i was torn between groups, but decided to save the weirder and less pleasant ones for later entries....feel free to comment with your strings if you are so inclined.
Warped, Strange, But Cool, or at least not vile.
1) give friends digital crack - always a good thing, though a slightly odd string to be using in my eyes.
2) no good deed goes unpunished - cool string, but what were you hoping to find in the results?
3) gone with the WMD - very cool string, I wish i had thought this one up...i bet this pulled some great results.
4) fresh vegetables are dangerous - another wildly cool string, though once again i have no idea what they were hoping to find...the possibilities do provide for some great mental imagery.
5) in jour head - nice play on words here....must have gathered fun results
6) parents don't understand how i feel after the divorce i'm 40 - wow....so very specific, yet so disturbed....had to get some really depressing results with this one.
7) die you gravy sucking pig movie quote - a useful quote for many occasions...wonder how many hit they got on this.
8) pork brains in milk gravy - sick twisted string....why...a meal from hell for sure.
more of these later
two movies opening soon....one by tarantino and one by rodriguez....i hope they live up to both directors' better past efforts....been way too long for both, at least for movies which are in the styles that made their fame...dying for some good tarantino dialogue, especially when well mixed with his special brand of violence...really dying for robert rodriguez to get back to his roots and dazzle me with some more of his mastery of gunbattle ballet....read good things on both so far, but will reserve opinion until i see for myself....both casts look good, and i was wondering when we would get the final chapter of the el mariachi saga...hmmmm, johnny depp, salma hayek, and antonio banderas, guns and snappy dialogue, should be tasty.
this is the first in a series devoted to the mostly interesting, sometimes odd, or disgusting, and other combinations of search terms that resulted in visits to my little corner of the blogsphere...some strings were obvious attempts to find me specifically, but most were inadvertant i think....will devote a journal entry to each group, as arbitrarily grouped by me, of strings, with comment when amusing to me...no doubt there will be updates filling later entries....feel free to comment with your own string results, though i ask you stay on subject, so if yours are outside the scope of a group, hold em until the entry that matches please.
Sorry For The Accidental Match - these are legitimate (i think) strings entered that somehow managed to cause one of my pages to trigger a result.
1) better homes and gardens episode 2003 - well not sure which page had that particular combination of terms, but i apologize for wasting your time, as i'm sure you weren't looking for me.
2) documentary old car repair - another oops getting my journal, hope it wasn't too bothersome for you.
3) puppies for sale in springfield mass - wow...how did this string generate a hit here????well i almost feel bad for not having puppies to sell, tho am glad i don't live in springfield.
4) dj irene pic - sorry none here
5) clothing brooklyn leftfield - amusing how a playlist entry screwed the results for someone wanting to score a new outfit....hope you found what you wanted.
6) technical writer grammar test - never thought my jounaling a self justification would cause some poor slob wanting to improve their tech writing skills to veer off into the angst.
7) "essential mix" track listing leftfield 2000 - alas, another casualty of my playlist....hope you found the tracklist somewhere.
8) dear miss manners july 2003 - oh boy did this ever miss by a mile or 1,000...miss manners i ain't for sure, and never will be, tho i have manners, fairly good ones when i feel the need to trot them out.
9) 2003 classified ads of used refrigerator offer for sale by priv - damn how did that get here?
10) definition football free safety - while a fan, have no definitions of positions here, at least not football definitions.
11) government of the 60's - another soul lost while looking for knowledge.
12) quotes on misunderstanding - well there are probably a few things i have said on that subject, which could be quoted, though use them at your own risk...i am pretty well aquainted with misunderstanding, as i seem to cause a fair amount, and miss the point all the time.
13) bizarro by dan piraro june 2003 strips - i really feel shitty for causing another fan to waste time trying to satisfy their bizarro fix.
14) great song quotes - there are a few, very few burried in some journal entries here, but sorry for diverting you, unless you were looking for pop trash, in which case i hope you stay lost.
15) clinton judicial appointees approved - another dead end, as i did mention the string, but in a totally different context.
stay tuned for the next installment folks...some of the upcoming entries should be quite
after some concerted searching finally found the fix to get scrollbars to color....do they look okay, or do i need to tweak the track color some more...not sure....eyes are fucked after all nighter doing graphics for matching bb2 theme...please let me know
for a wide variety of reasons these are a few quotes that i dig...some are funny, some stupid, some weird, and some just great...am including why or what i like about it, with each in parens....got your own favorite(s), then share it with me/us please
"Where ever you go. There you are."
Buckaroo Banzai
(flawless logic, in a slightly twisted obvious way...from one of my favorite movies, that no one has ever seen)
"Skeed Pills...Peed Skills...Keed Spills...Oh, Fuck It"
Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers
(a great quote from a great comic)
"I Don't Have Time To Bleed"
Jesse ventura from Predator
(perhaps the dumbest line ever uttered in a movie)
"I have made good judgements in the Past. I have made good judgements in the Future."
Dan Quayle
(so hard to pick just one)
"I'm so happy, dancing while the grim reaper cuts, cuts, cuts, but he can't get me"
Danny Elfman from No One Lives Forever
(great line from a great song)
"If you ain't for the Chargers, then you ain't for shit"
San Diego Chargers Fan T-shirt
(obviously meant to be worn by those who don't realize what it really says...and yes i saw more than one chargers fan proudly wearing this shirt)
"Can't sleep, clowns will eat me"
Unsure of this one's origin
(paranoid weirdness at its very best)
"you knew this was a dangerous job when you took it"
super chicken to his sidekick fred
(Jay Ward Rules)
"Trust me, you really don't want to know what I think" or "I don't think"
My catch all answers for questions best never asked
ok, got the majority of my new style worked out...it is not yet complete, as it is missing the banner, a couple of modules, and i will be tweaking the layout a bit before it is complete...i hope you all like the color scheme, i know it is a bit dark, but that is intentional....while i may try some slight changes to the colors of the various text and link sets, the colors are designed to seamlessly integrate with my primary site, "Visual Angst", and it's associated apps (guestbook and forum), which i spent obscene amounts of time creating the templates for...i created the entire look and feel of "Visual Angst" as an abstract artistic concept...i personally like how the blog looks on its own, but it will, i believe look and feel much better once i get the main site back up and all elements integrated...i am sure that some of you will find the look/feel to be disturbing, unsettling, and/or depressing, too bad
Please let me know what you think so far, good or bad...and as it evolves keep letting me know how i am doing with it...i welcome all input and suggestions, and will reply to let you know you have been heard...if anyone asks, i am happy to go into boring detail about what i am trying to achieve
